DESCRIPTION:The Chamber of Commerce will partner with G&A Partners to bring Preventing Workplace Violence to the business community on Fri.\, Oct. 5 a the MCM Elegant  from 8   11: 30 a.m. The training is part of the Lubbock Chamber's mission to strengthen the Lubbock business community by addressing critical topics in the workplace by educating employers and employees on various subjects offering tools and tactics to navigate and thrive in the ever-changing workforce. \n\n \n\nWorkplace violence has emerged as an important safety and health issue in today's workplace. While workplace violence was once confined to a few specific industries\, it now affects all businesses of every size and type. According to a recent Department of Justice national Crime Victimization Survey\, assaults and threats of violence against Americans at work number almost two million a year. The most common type of workplace violent crime was simple assault. As company representatives\, it is important for managers and supervisors to be aware of the issues involved in workplace violence and to understand the company's workplace violence prevention plan.\n\n\n\nHuman Resource Advisor and Client Advocate\, Denise Macik from G&A Partners will be the keynote speaker at this seminar. Macik\, has worked as a Human Resources Manager in the Central Texas Area for more than 25 years in various industries\, including the manufacturing\, warehousing\, sales and bio-tech industries. Denise attended Sinclair College and The University of Dayton\, both located in Dayton Ohio\, and received her PHR certification in 2013 and her SHRM CP certification in 2014.  \n\n\n\nThe training is $35 for Chamber members and $50 for non-members.
