DESCRIPTION:The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce invites the business community to meet new Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec at a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday\, September 15 at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center on the Texas Tech campus.\n\n\n\nThis event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend.\n\n \n\nSchovanec\, who officially began his duties as president on August 1\, has served the university as provost since December 2013 and was interim president from July 2012 through March 2013.\n\n\n\nDuring his time as provost\, he helped strengthen Texas Tech's position as a leading national research university.
