Summary
The Events and Marketing Director is responsible for overseeing all Chamber events and creating marketing and promotional strategies for events, to reach new members and communicate membership value to current members. This includes overseeing program and event marketing, social strategy, content creation, and promotions.

Job Description

  • As a director-level position, this is a senior management role within the organization.
  • The Events and Marketing Director oversees and leads the events and marketing teams, planning, managing, and delivering Chamber events, including oversight of the event marketing, utilization of event volunteers, and coordination with community partners and committees.
  • Directs the creation, implementation and measurement of Chamber marketing, communication and public relations programs that enhance the organization’s image and position in the marketplace.
  • Develops event marketing plans including earned, owned, and paid channels to drive attendance, awareness and advances the mission of the Chamber.
  • Develops a marketing plan/calendar. Oversees plan execution that includes earned, owned, and paid channels.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the Chamber website, ensuring that updates are made on a timely basis.
  • Creates and oversees the implementation of social strategy for Chamber’s owned channels – website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. Determines proper posting schedule and assigns.
  • Leads team creating social content creation. Ensures valuable content is developed for brand channels.
  • Oversees the creation and distribution of weekly member eblast – Monday Memo. Plans, schedules, and directs all member email communications.
  • Working with in-house designer oversees the creation of marketing collateral for Chamber program promotions.
  • Working with Sponsorship Manager, manages key media contracts in support of signature events. Including billboards, PSAs, print ads, etc.
  • Manages Chamber media list and tracking reports. Cultivates relationships with local media.
  • Develops creative pitches to secure earned media segments to promote Chamber programs and events.
  • Manage news conferences, drafts, and distributes media advisories and press releases.
  • Acts as spokesperson as requested by CEO. Message trains Chamber members to serve as event spokespeople as needed.
  • Manages a budget within authority and helps to evaluate and expand upon the business plan each year to provide superior value and service to membership and community partners.
  • This role requires occasional early morning and/or late-night attendance for member events.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR or marketing
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Experience leading complex projects and managing a multifunctional team.
  • Excellent writing skills; detail oriented
  • Understands the effective use of paid, owned and earned media.
  • Experience pitching and working with journalists.
  • Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Teams, Canva, etc.
  • Actively looks for opportunities to improve processes and shares these ideas.
  • Management and oversight of multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
