Frenship ISD Bond Paves the Way Forward

Frenship ISD Bond Paves the Way Forward

Last week, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce joined with the Lubbock Association of Realtors, the Lubbock Apartment Association, and the West Texas Home Builders to support the Frenship ISD bond measure that is on the ballot this election cycle. Originally, the bond was to be included on the May ballot but was postponed with all other municipal and school district elections until the November election.

One result of Lubbock’s steady growth is the subsequent growth in area school districts. This includes Frenship ISD, which is now facing multiple campuses being filled to capacity in the near future with more growth on the way. As a result, Frenship ISD has set forth a bold plan of action through this bond measure to accommodate that growth and continue to enhance the opportunities provided to students in our community.
Here are the highlights of the bond measure:

  • More than 90% of the proposed $299.7 million bond is dedicated to facilities to accommodate growth
  • Construction of a second high school
  • Construction of a fourth middle school
  • Construction of a ninth elementary school
  • Repurposing the existing ninth grade center to serve as the new home of Frenship Middle School
  • Safety and security upgrades across the district
  • The Frenship ISD property tax rate increases by only a fraction of a penny per $100 property valuation, amounting to about $1 per month for the average homeowner
Quality schools are vital to any community, especially when considering the ramifications for our future workforce. The Chamber encourages residents who live in Frenship ISD to cast their vote in favor of this bond measure so that Frenship can stay on a course for success for many years to come.
