The luncheon will feature a fireside chat with Councilman Steve Massengale and City Manager Jarrett Atkinson as they discuss how the city has navigated through this crisis while giving an outlook of future recovery.
The Chamber will also present Robert Taylor, CEO United Division, with the Champion for Business award. Robert Taylor is a lifelong Lubbock resident leading the largest private business in the community that had to quickly adapt its business model to safely and efficiently serve the Lubbock and surrounding communities. Taylor is a servant-leader dedicated to the community by serving in various leadership roles in non-profit and professional organizations alike. He currently serves as the Chair of the Downtown TIF Board and as Co-Chair for the Lubbock Economic Recovery Taskforce (LERT).
"Robert Taylor's business experience and leadership were put to the test during the City's response to the pandemic," said Eddie McBride, Lubbock Chamber President and CEO. "His common sense approach mixed with his ability to communicate with every level of authority in our community ensured Lubbock was protected to the best of our ability during the COVID-19 response. No decisions by the LERT Task Force was easy but Robert was a calming voice and consciousness during the deliberative planning."
This award recognizes a member of the business community that has actively advocated for business through public policy while working closely with Chamber, City, and government officials to help Lubbock continue to prosper.
