Think you and your team can carve the best pumpkins in Lubbock? Put your skills to the test with Lubbock Park and Recreation's Pumpkin Carving Competition! Prizes will be awarded to Best Team Theme, Best Parks and Rec Theme [Spooky Sports], Most Pumpkins Carved and Best Pumpkin. Registration is free, opens on 9/16/2024 and closes 10/13/2024. The minimum and maximum requirement for team size is 2 to 10. Hodges Community Center staff will contact the team leader (registrant) prior to the event to collect needed team information (how many carvers, team name...). Teams will be provided with one carving kit and 10 pumpkins Items provided: 2 basic carving knives, 3 small scoops, 1 large scoop, 1 sharpie, 1 package of wet wipes, 1 roll of paper towels, 1 tin foil pan and 2 jumbo size plastic bags for seeds! Teams are permitted to bring any other desired carving materials of their own. Pre-registration is required. Check in starts at 6:00 pm at the Hodges Community Center located at 4011 University Ave. Once the team is checked in they can start carving their pumpkins. All carving will stop at 9:00 pm. Judging will take place the next morning on October 17th and winners will be alerted. All pumpkins will be placed in the 16th Annual Pumpkin Trail given they follow Pumpkin Trail requirements. Teams that complete 10 pumpkins get a group sign on the Pumpkin Trail. Pumpkins should be placed near or on the Parks and Recreation Display. If a team's pumpkins are moved somewhere else, we will alert them to the change. Teams may provide extra pumpkins if they want to. We may also have extra pumpkins available.
