Join the Lubbock Civic Orchestra for - The Passion of Humanity - a celebration of cultural music and connection from around the world on Tuesday, November 1 at 7:30pm in the McDonald-Moody Auditorium on the beautiful campus of Lubbock Christian University. Repertoire includes: -Suffolk Suite (1965) by Doreen Carwithen, -Verano Porteño (1965/2022) originally by Astor Piazzolla and arranged especially for the LCO by our own Charles Olivier. The performance will feature members of Lubbock’s own Tango Llaneros - Charles Olivier, bandoneon; Catherine Olivier, violin; and Hannah Macgillivray, double bass, -Prayer of Ukraine (1885) with lyrics by Oleksandr Konysky, music by Mykola Lysenko, and arranged by Ben Roundtree, and -March Slav (Slavonic March), Op. 31 (1876) by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The Lubbock Civic Orchestra was founded in the Fall of 2018 with the intention of bringing great orchestral music to the community with free concerts and outreach programs, while also providing community volunteer musicians a platform for utilizing their talents for service to Lubbock and the surrounding areas. The ensemble is conducted by Drs. Ryan S. Smith and Blair A. Williams. The ensemble is graciously supported by Lubbock Christian University. Admission is free.
