Status: Exempt, Full-time

Summary: 

Direct and oversee the efficient operation of all facilities. Responsible for the compliant, safe and cost-effective operations of the following departments: Salvage, Transportation, Housekeeping and Maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 FACILITIES AND SPECIAL PROJECTS

  • Assist VP of Operations as a liaison between general contractors and the COO on the build-out or re-modeling of Goodwill facilities. 
  • Oversees and maintains daily maintenance and housekeeping operations. 
  • Ensures compliance with all GINWT policies and procedures.
  • Consult with and maintain regular communication with the VP of Operations regarding service audits, budget expenditures and planning, procurement of non-budgeted equipment and supplies, ongoing projects, large-scale maintenance projects, store buildouts and scheduled updates, challenges, and opportunities. 
  • Identify departmental equipment and maintenance needs. Oversee all general facility maintenance, updates and repairs. Maintain a list of qualified vendors to assist with special projects, maintenance, and landscaping.
  • Ensure that all external inspections are conducted annually in each facility. Certificates of Occupancy are to be prominently displayed in all locations. Conduct quarterly operational walk-throughs with the VP of Operations.
  • Prepare and maintain timely accounting, timekeeping and employee reviews and records as required by the agency’s accounting, human resources and retail offices.
  • Take an active role in developing, overseeing, and maintaining appropriate safety programs for assigned areas of responsibility. Ensure that employees are trained in Health & Safety policies and procedures and that all work injuries are reported immediately. Make certain employees properly use required PPE.
  • Complete annual OSHA training, maintain a current CPR and First Aid Certification as well as Forklift Operator Certification.
  • Demonstrate and coach staff towards excellent customer service to both external and internal customers.
  • Assign use of company vehicles and install GPS tracking system immediately upon receipt of newly acquired vehicles. Obtain signatures on the Vehicle Use Form and submit to HR. Oversee timely, cost effective and safe disposal of retired company vehicles. Oversee all maintenance and repair of non-commercial fleet.

 

TRANSPORTATION & SALVAGE

  • Supervise the Manager of Transportation/Salvage and maintain effective and efficient routing and scheduling of vehicles for the purposes of assigned store deliveries, ADC distribution and, when applicable, donor pickup. 
  • Facilitate the sale of salvage material and excess credential. Supervise the Manager of Transportation/Salvage toward the efficient operation of the flow of product. Maintain a current list of salvage vendors on the Operations drive complete with type of commodity, company, name and contact information.
  • Lead transportation in annual events that relate to designated areas of responsibility i.e. TTU Move Out. Provide operational support for all company events as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Develop and cross-trains staff in each department.
  • Use company provided cell phone for work-related purposes. Ensure phone remain in working condition and abide by all procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and Cell Phone policy.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises Maintenance Lead and employees as well as all vendors related to special projects. This position is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • HS Diploma or GED required, some college preferred and work experience equal to six years in related field.
  • Minimum of five years of Project Management/Operations Management experience in a retail and or operations business with more than 50 employees
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in directing and or leading training and development of logistics/operational soft skills

Work Environment:

Work performed indoors and outdoors may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions of heat, cold, rain, snow and humidity. May be exposed to dust, dirt and solid particles from donated goods and equipment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements:

Should be proficient in operating trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, baling equipment, tippers, security cameras and computers. Must have current drivers’ license and be insurable by Goodwill Industries insurance carrier. Experience or ability in driving a large (24 ft bed) truck required. Stands, walks and/or sits for prolonged periods of time; repetitive bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, twisting and stooping; lifting/pushing, moving up to 100 pounds. Must be able to repeatedly climb in and out of vehicle.
